Of course we all hope that such recovery centers will be unnecessary someday; for now, reality tells us they are crucial. Dover, and much of the nation, is struggling with a substance abuse problem. Often those who struggle with such abuse are trapped in a cycle of abuse and incarceration. Recovery centers are a vital tool in breaking this cycle and offering hope to addicts, their families and the community at large.
The SOS Recovery Community Organization (SOS RCO) recently held an information session at the Dover Police Department. This will be their third location to open in the area in the last several months but the first in Dover.
Whether pharmaceutical drugs, methamphetamine, heroin or other drug, Dover is struggling with an abuse problem. This type of recovery resource may offer an essential alternative to jail, or worse, for the many addicts in the area who want to get and stay clean.
